Welcome to the website for the author
Steve Roach

Steve is a Worcestershire based writer who predominantly works with short fiction and novellas but occasionally writes travelogues, illustrated children's books (with Simon Schild) and the odd film script.  With a large selection of work garnering impressive reviews, Steve's output is thought-provoking, entertaining and always interesting. Working within the Independent market gives Steve the freedom to explore some unusual ideas and the diversity of the subject matter is a testament to this freedom.

This diversity ranges from horror tales about 19th century whaling expeditions to explorations of modern day social injustice, from stories about a talking spider offering counsel to an obese loner to a thoroughly researched retelling of the 2005 hurricane Katrina disaster (with a science-fiction twist). Other subjects include fox hunting, religious mania, gene manipulation, time-travel, a psychotic heamorrhoid, a terrifying Santa Claus, football hooliganism and the fall of the Aztec empire.

Steve's stories are often humorous, sometimes upsetting and always have a dark thread running through them.  A number have reached the #1 spot in the bestseller charts on Amazon in their respective categories. During the last 3 years, over 50,000 people have read his work.
